I am currently pregnant with my first baby and she is due March 26, 2008.
We found out after a routine ultrasound at 20 weeks that our daughter has congenital hydrocephalus with the cause not identified yet.
At 28 weeks the doctor found the septum pellucidum and the corpus callosum to be absent. Her lateral ventricles measured at 22 mm and 32 mm with an overall head circumference being normal.
She also only has one kidney and a stomach malformation called Duodenal Atresia. The one kidney is functioning beautifully. Her stomach will require surgery after she is born.
A chromosome analysis from an amniocentesis (performed at 29 weeks) returned normal. So thus far there is no known reason for our daughter's congenital defects.
After Cayman was diagnosed with hydrocephalus I went crazy researching information on it. That is how I found this website about Owen. We are currently looking into having the cord blood infusion done and have had a phone conference with Dr. Kurtzberg. We are very anxious as we wait the birth of our daughter.
